The Hemingway series was introduced in 1983 by Carlos Fuente Sr. as a tribute to the classic Cuban perfecto shapes his father Arturo had worked with decades earlier. The Short Story is the smallest vitola in the standard lineup at 4 x 49, and in many ways the most democratic entry point into the series. At under an hour it fits the pace of a workday break or a quick afternoon smoke without asking much of the clock. The petite proportions concentrate the aged Dominican binder and filler under an African Cameroon wrapper into a compact, front loaded smoke that delivers the full character of the Hemingway blend in a fraction of the time. Its approachability has made it one of the most consistently sought after cigars in the entire Fuente portfolio and one of the harder sizes to keep in stock. Handmade in the Dominican Republic.

The Hemingway Sungrown swaps the traditional Cameroon wrapper for an Ecuadorian sun grown leaf grown from habano seed, sourced through Oliva Tobacco Company. Sun grown tobacco develops thicker, darker leaves than shade grown varieties due to direct sun exposure, and the Ecuadorian growing conditions produce a wrapper with a notably darker color and fuller character than the Cameroon it replaces. The aged Dominican binder and filler underneath remain the same as the rest of the Hemingway line.
The Classic is a Churchill perfecto at 7 x 46, the largest vitola in the standard Hemingway lineup. The Sungrown is released in limited quantities annually and runs somewhat fuller in character than the natural Cameroon version. Handmade in the Dominican Republic.
